In 2015, we are beginning a series of quarterly events, called the Calvin's New Discovery Showcase, to give local or touring artists who have not played at Calvin's a chance to be heard by the bookers at our venue in front of a live audience, just like a typical Calvin's show. These events are normally scheduled for the last Friday of the first month of each quarter (Jan, Apr, Jul, and Oct), although there will be some exceptions from time to time.

Six artists will be chosen from online submissions, or via direct invitation, to play at each event. The mechanism itself to submit will be put in place in May 2015 for the July 2015 event and beyond. (Return here for that announcement following the first event on May 1, 2015. Artists for that first event will be selected by invitation only.) Submissions will be screened and participants selected by the Uncle Calvin's booking committee.

Each of the six artists will play two songs in front of a live audience, including members of the Calvin's booking committee. The booking committee will consider the best among the group for future engagements at Calvin's.

The audience will also be given the opportunity to vote for a favorite.

Each of these showcase events will also present a featured artist in one 45 minute set to begin the second half of the show. This artist is an established performer who will be booked via the normal Calvin's booking process.

Each event will be hosted by local Dallas singer/songwriter Andrew Delaney, a two-time Kerrville New Folk finalist and frequent performer in the Dallas area with his band Andrew Delaney and the Horse He Rode In On. Andrew will also perform a few songs at each event.
